HERO VS. HERO 2020

Our local first responders here in Greensboro and the surrounding communities in Guilford County have been through a lot this year. The coronavirus pandemic has brought new strains and never before seen adversities to the fire service, medical workers, and law enforcement. Being aware of the new stresses to the job, the HERO VS. HERO Competition brought new meaning to what it means to be a first responder this year. Our community has looked to them for leadership during these stressful times and they each have displayed tremendous valor to us all.
For this year’s HERO VS. HERO Competition, we received seven candidates. 6 from the fire service and one from the Cone Health Carelink service. They are listed below.
Nominees this year -
Senior Firefighter Hannah Johnson - City of Greensboro Fire Department
Firefighter Matt Richardson - McLeansville Fire Department
Lead EMT Rusty Gray - Cone Health Carelink
Engineer Greg Ebel - Summerfield Fire District
Lieutenant Paul Mcnabb - Southeast Volunteer Fire Department
Captain Brian Forbis - Pleasant Garden Fire Department
Fighter II Tyler Hassenplug - Guil-Rand Fire Department Photos from SERVPRO of Greensboro North's post
Congratulations to Senior Firefighter Hannah Johnson from the City of Greensboro Fire Department for winning the Annual SERVPRO HERO VS. HERO Competition! We received nominations from departments across Guilford County and after a week of voting, Hannah received the highest number of votes from those in our community. Hannah’s heart is for people; serving both in her official capacity as a firefighter as well as helping members of our community who need compassion and understanding during tough times.
